Retro card set

I made this set of cards last week before we headed off for the weekend, I think they have a nice retro feel. I am trying hard to buy products that encourage me to step out of my usual comfort zone. I tend to make pretty, pinky, butterfly(ish) things a lot... being the mum of girls I guess. I can't seem to move away from my usual neat and structured style, but I can shake things up by using Earthy tones sometimes.

Ingredients: Kraft cardstock, Best Yet and Upsy Daisy stamp sets, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive ink pads, corner rounder punch - all from Stampin' Up!, Basicgrey Offbeat 6 x 6 paper pad.

I found this magazine rack at a little coffee shop this morning. I know it's supposed to be for books and magazines, but I thought it would be perfect for my smaller paper pads and alpha's... and it is!

Random

The girls starting to set up for a bit of crafty time so Mummy could get a little work done yesterday. Excuse background mess.

The best part of the warmer weather. I took the girls shopping on Tuesday, headed in to get myself a new pair of my beloved Havianas, and as we approached the stand of them, Tahlia (4) says "Look Mummy, they have heaps of Havianas here", I hadn't realised I went on about them so much. Anyways, they had some really cute kids ones, so we left with a few pairs, so cute on their sweet little feet.

One for the Boys

I was making a few Father's Day cards last night, and didn't feel like stopping so made a few birthday cards for men too. I really enjoy making masculine cards, and it's easy with the right stuff. I received an order in the mail yesterday with a 6" by 6" pad of Basicgrey's Offbeat papers. I think a lot of the designs in this are great for men's cards, and used them on my Father's Day cards too.

And lastly, a little gift for my Dad for Father's Day. We are heading to see my Mum and Dad this weekend, so I wanted to have everything ready to take with us. I have pinched this idea from my girls kindy teachers (;) thanks ladies). Under the tag is a little label on how to cook and what to add. Dad really loves my Apricot and coconut slice, so now he can have it on Father's Day, even though we won't be there!

Eye Candy

Japanese fabric - Kokka... I think. I thought it was cute, picturing it as the lining of some nice denim bags, with some spotted and striped bright plains.

Some Oldies and My Alltime Favourite

I received my published card set back a little while ago, seems like so long ago that I made this little Basic Grey set - I made an Origami box with a set of 5 gift cards with the BG Infuse range, some BG rubons, and a little bazzill and ribbon to bring it all together. Next one is a simple clean little gift set I made a while ago with some Papertrey stamps (Out on a Limb).

Lastly is my all time favourite photo of Clint and the girls on holidays last year. I had this photo made into a big canvas last Christmas for Clint, it sits proudly on the wall in our living room, I just love it.

A set of cards for that little inspirational lift in your day, I love these Amy Butler Lotus Tea Box Die Cut Butterflies, and if you have been trying to get them here in Australia and are struggling, it is because I have bought just about every sheet of them from every online store that I could possibly find them in ... sorry about that, but Amy Butler and Butterflies in the same sentence just sends me a little loopy I guess;)

Very Different

A couple of cards again for today, two very different styles. A very early post again, off to have a bit of retail therapy with a good friend for the day ;) so getting my chores done early.

Card one - I just love the Ali Edwards stamps, have had these ones for a while and really wanted to use them. Card two - Another of my favourite SU sets at the moment.

Ingredients: Card one - cardstock is Kraft and Chocolate Chip, ink is Chocolate Chip, ribbon is Chocolate Chip, corner rounder punch - all from Stampin' Up; Loving Words by Ali Edwards stamps by Technique Tuesday, buttons from my stash, patterned paper I can't quite remember the brand - I got it from my LSS, it has these beautiful stitched hearts over it and I just cut one out.

Card two - Flight of the Butterfly set, ink in Pink Pirouette and Regal Rose, ribbon is Pretty in Pink - all from Stampin' Up!, white precut cardstock, crystal Stickles (they don't show up really well but are there on all the little buterflies)

A Few Cards for Today

I think this set of cards looks quite elegant as my mother would say. Broke out some old and new Stampin' Up! products for this set.

Ingredients: Oval All stamp set (new Spring Mini), Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set, cardstock - Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate (retired), Kraft and Whisper White, inks - same colours as cardstock, Whisper White for flowers, scallop oval punch (new Spring Mini), large oval punch - all from Stampin' Up!, ribbon - from my stash.

Two lovely little models, only too happy to help out Mummy. The BEST reason to take a day off!

Frillies Amy Butler Style

I made these two little lovelies yesterday with some gorgeous fabric from Amy Butler's 'Daisy Chain' range. Such beautiful soft cotton to work with, makes all the frills a breeze. The first one uses 'Daisy Chain' inside and out, the second one on a lightweight denim cotton base... just for something different... hee hee. Which one do you like?

I have used the Frilly Dilly pattern from the Janelle Wind Collection yet again. I love this pattern and I just love making these, I can do a little sewing, then sit with the girls and sort my frills out and get other steps done, I don't feel so guilty hiding away in my crafty space for a whole day! The girls like to play on the floor in here with all my fabric scraps, and use my office chair as a 'Revolving Island' for their ponies when I need to be in here, so everyone's happy.

That's it for today, posting early, going to have a little break for the day... break means doing 3 loads of washing, folding the two baskets I have been neglecting and cleaning the house... don't you just love a 'break'? Bye bye.

Oh Deer Me...

The fruits of this weekend's labour... the girls were a little sad about this one, "Don't cut into Bambi", they were wailing, it was quite funny. They were particularly distressed when I made 'Bambi' into frills and they couldn't see the whole body... 4 year olds just don't understand Mummy's vision of creativity, do they?

These colours were a little out of my comfort zone, not sure if you may have noticed, but I like pink, lots and lots of pink. This is my first bag with no pink, even my Springtime Dillies have at least a little pink, but no pink to be seen here whatsoever. The fabric I have used is from Michael Miller's 'Orchid and Spa' range, on a nice lightweight denim cotton base.

The 'A Rose is a Rose' stamp set from Stampin' Up! is not my usual style, but I must admit that I am quite liking it. I have made this little set of note cards in their own gift folder. I definitely needed my trusty old Stamp-A-Majig for this set - thoroughly recommended when you are doing one image over another.

Ingredients: Whisper white note cards and envelopes, Choc Chip, Certainly Celery, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White cardstock, ink - Regal Rose, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Old live, Whisper White; Bella Rose designer series paper, scallop edge punch - all from Stampin' Up!, satin ribbon from Spotlight (spots) and Big W(pink), clear embossing powder.

Butterfly Cards

Two posts for today, the girls are at kindy, so time is a little more frivolous today.
I so love these die-cut butterflies from the Amy Butler range from K & Co, I just can't get enough of them.

Another Pretty Bag

Another little bag using Patty Young's 'Mezzanine' fabric range with some soft denim. I really like these together, makes me feel like Spring is just around the corner, which is how it feels today with the beautiful weather.

Too Much Fabric, Too Little Time

I have so much fabric to play with at the moment, I am on sensory overload! It used to be just paper that did this to me, now I am equally obsessed with fabrics and the colours and patterns of it all.

I made this neat little bag yesterday using some beautiful fabric from Patty Young's 'Mezzanine' collection (by Michael Miller Fabrics). I loved putting together these lovely pinks and mossy greens, so nice with each other. I am halfway through another one using these fabrics but with the denim base, I'll show you that one when it is finished later this week. This bag has been made using the Frilly Dilly pattern from the Janelle Wind Collection.

Well, it's the Ekka holiday here today and I have my lovely family home with me, so an early post so I can focus on the important stuff for the rest of the day... have fun with whatever your day brings.
