Another Colour Challenge

I had a little time to create something today, so thought I would have a go at the latest Colour Challenge posted over at the Embellish blog. {Just to clarify to my worldwide blog friends, too, the word "color" has different spelling here in Aus, it is "colour"... I truly can spell... honest...;)}

If you do get a spare few moments, take a look at the cards posted for inspiration for this challenge by the design team, a truly talented bunch of crafters, each card is just beautiful.

I had two different ideas in my mind for these colours, first up, a yummy Chocolate base and some chalks. I did have a lot of trouble capturing this card in a decent photo, due to the shimmery chalks I used, they are really pretty and pearly in the flesh, but the photo just isn't really sharing that with you..., I opted for a stark white base, prettied up with some stamping...

...well, I do hope your weekend is cruising along nicely, thanks for popping in.
Smiles:) bye for now.

It's Oh So Quiet...

The school year has begun here in Australia, and I must admit to being a little heartbroken. My precious little twin girls started prep yesterday, and the house is so very, very quiet in their absence. I am not feeling overly inspired to create anything just at the moment, no worries though, it's all good, I know it will return soon, just a minor gliche in my mummy brain... as I adjust to the changes happening around me {...just keep swimming, just keep swimming...}

Luckily, I still have a few cards up my sleeve, that I created in the last weeks of the school holidays, to keep you on the hook;) Here are a couple of those baby cards that I had started to show you last week.

I just love mushrooms.

Enjoy your day, bye for now,

Best Wishes {... and a little excitement...}

Good Morning all, I hope you are having a lovely day, it's Sunday here and we are having a quiet home day, nice and relaxed before a new week begins.

I was having a quick little look on my favourite blogs this morning, when I did my check-in on the Cards Blog and discovered that my card had been chosen to be part of their Challenge Gallery from last week. I was in a flood of tears as I raced out to get the hubby and share with him... I have been trying to get my cards into Cards magazine for a while now, it is basically my goal in life.. to be published in my most favourite magazine.. Cards... for doing what I love, so to get on the blog is the next best thing for me and I am just so over the moon.

Thankyou for making my day:) Be sure to check out the other gallery ladies over at the Cards blog, the cards are simply beautiful and I am a little humbled, to say the least, at having one of my cards in the company of some of my crafty idols... is my card, the challenge was to feature trees or branches on a card...

Well, that said, I am off to enjoy the day, with the HUGEST EVER smile on my face!

Smiles:) bye for now.

{Babies and Birthday Wishes}

Good morning all! I hope your week has plodded along nicely, we are enjoying the last week of holidays here... I haven't had to think of school holidays really meaning much of a change to things for a few years now, but with my little munchkins about to start Prep next week, routine is fast becoming a reality again, after 5 years away from classrooms and the like.

For the moment, I am pinching a little time for my craftiness to be let out of the box each day. The girls are usually beside me cutting and sticky-taping their own little creations, they love having some punched out shapes to fiddle with, and like to keep busy, busy, busy. For me, I am really enjoying my card making again, inspired, with ideas racing through my head for different designs.

First up is one of the baby cards I made a couple of days ago, I like to call cards like this a Sweet Simplicity design - beats that word "simple" and puts a nice little spin on it;) I love a clean white card with a nice stamp, or two, and this little guy is so cute for a baby card, don't you think?

Next up is a birthday card with my favourite Cupcake stamps, from BasicGrey's Nook and Pantry range.

I hope you have a great day and a fabulous weekend.
Smiles:) bye for now.

BasicGrey Colour Challenge

I have put together another card yesterday afternoon, helped along with the inspiration from the BasicGrey Colour Challenge. I have retyped this post sooooo many times thanks to major uploading problems via Picasa or Blogger... who know’s, wish I was a little more techy savvy so I could sort it all out. I am posting in a different way today, so, fingers crossed it all happens, or I may miss the BG deadline:( (Yay, it's worked)!

I love this room, so fresh and cool looking, don’t you think?

When I first saw this photo, it reminded me of some Amy Butler paper that I knew I had hiding somewhere.

I hope you are having a lovely day, thankyou for all of the lovely comments, please keep them coming, they make my day;)

Smiles:) bye for now.

I had a bit of fun today making a card for our dear friends' little one's first birthday. This card is so me, I love pinks and browns, and anything pretty and girly. After this one, I had a little efficiency fit and made another eight baby cards.. I don't know why really, I don't know anyone who is having a baby, just because the stamps were cute and begging to be played with I suppose. I will share those with you in the coming days;)

I did a little heat embossing on the stamps to give them a little sparkle, it doesn't show up very well in the pics, but is really pretty.

How do you make cards? Do you make them just for fun or with a specific destination in mind? I have perhaps 100 or more handmade cards sitting in my craft room in cello bags... I am generally a "just becauser", then when I need a card, I tend to not be able to find one in my HUGE stash, and make one just for the occassion anyway... a little strange, but when the creativity is flowing, I just love creating for enjoyment.

Smiles :) enjoy your day wherever it takes you.

White cardstock from my LSS, Pretty in Pink card - SU!, Forest Friends stamps - SU!, Snail Mail stamps - Sassafras Lass, Chipboard letters - American Crafts, Border punch - EK Success, Swiss Dots Embossing folder - Cuttlebug, Umber and Cinnamon ink - Versamark, Circle Punch - SU!, Hologram Sparkle Embossing powder from my LSS, Chiffon ribbon - Spotlight.

A fun little project...

Hello, my name is Kathy, and I am now addicted to Colour Challenges...hee hee. The girls are having a little kip today as we were up for a lot of the night with a storm, not a particularly nasty one, just a noisy one with heaps of thunder and lightning, and a lot of rain. The girls are very scared of storms, so always wake to huddle under the protection of Mummy and Daddy... I have to admit, that while I am almost at the point of needing toothpicks to hold my eyes open today, I do love storms simply for the cuddle factor;)

So, onto the business at hand, another colour challenge... shocked? With the munchkins snoozing, I really felt like making something, a bag actually, but seeing as the time factor won't allow a finished product, I decided on a paper project instead. I loved Stacey's Curtain Call colour challenge last week, so wanted to do it all over again. Loving the inspiration this week, I never use black or orange, so I had fun trying my hand at these.

EDITED TO ADD: I am also entering this little set of goodies into Nichole's Contest over at the Papertrey Blog. Nichole is having a contest and the challenge is to make something using some form of Origami. So... voila... a cute little origami box full of a little fun. There are some awesome entries, be sure to check them out if you have time:)

Rather than go with a card this time, I thought I would make a gift box with 5 little cards inside.

I haven't made one of these for ages, I love using paper to make dinky little gifts like this. Just a simple Origami box and the finished cards are 3 1/2 inch square. I used 5 different sentiment rub-ons so the recipient has a nice set of cards for lots of occassions.

Well, I hope your week charges off to a good start, thanks for checking in to see what I've been up to. Smiles:) bye for now.

Sassafrass Lass patterned paper, Bazzill pink cardstock, Fiskars Apron Lace border punch, SU Whisper White cardstock (card bases),SU felt flowers, SU Chit Chat and Loop to Loop rub-ons, Brads, Paper Flower and Ribbon from my stash.

{two cards to share}

I am finding that I am short on two things at the moment, time for creating, and creative inspiration... they work well when missing in action together I guess. I have made a pledge to myself today to create "something" regardless of the little everyday interruptions, so it goes a little like this:
* Pull out cardstock
* Take out a drink to Clint who's mowing the lawn (it's really hot here today)
* Grab out some stamps
* Wipe a bottom (make that 2, because my twins seem to have an uncanny knack of doing EVERYTHING at the same time... too much information, perhaps?...)
* Get my trimmer out on the table
* Fix morning tea for the girls
* Sit down and look at the stuff on my craft table, completely bewildered at what I have put out... I think you get the idea;)

To assist me in my little creative rut, I have been having a quick flick on all of my favourite blogs looking for challenges to help me along. On Maile Belles' blog (man, this lady has awesome creative style!) I found a challenge over at the Embellish Magazine blog.

So, not only are these colours completely out of my comfort zone, stripes are also way off for me, so this was indeed a challenge for me. I have made two cards following the guidelines set out over at Embellish.

So, there you have it, two cards, very different to my usual choices in both colours and style, but at least I made something... I am getting worried I am forgetting my craft!

Have a great weekend, thankyou for stopping by, and to those of you who have left me comments over the last while, I do appreciate them;)

Smiles:) and bye for now,

Another Card Challenge Entry

I stumbled upon this lovely blog today while having a little poke around, and I loved Stacey's cards and creations, so I thought I would have a go at her latest colour challenge.

Here is the piccy that Stacey had posted for round 12 of her challenge... I am a sucker for pinks and browns...

... I made two with these colours, first up is a simple little butterfly card...

...then I thought I had better tow the line with a Valentine's type card {Valentine's isn't really a big deal here in Australia} The lighter heart is actually Pretty in Pink, but I am having some major difficulty taking decent photos at the moment - everything without the flash just seems to have too much blue in it, I have changed settings and tried all sorts of stuff, but seem to need the flash for a half decent pic... sorry:(

Ingredients - Card 1: Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card, Flight of the Butterfly and Polka Dot background stamps, Rose Red and Pretty in Pink ink, Regal Rose ribbon, corner rounder punch - All from SU!, Pinecone versamark ink, Basicgrey sentiment stamp, pink bazzill, EK Success large corner rounder, Fiskars Border punch.

Card 2: Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink card, Regal Rose ribbon, Polka Dot background stamp - All from SU!, Carla Craft Heart punch, Basicgrey Patterned paper (Nook and Pantry 6 x 6 pad), Ali Edwards Loving Words sentiment stamp.

Have a lovely day, wherever it takes you. Smiles:) bye for now.

Yay... A card... finally!

I decided to jump back into the creative world today with Dawn's colour challenge. I have had way too long away from my crafty space, this card took me ages to make. You know when you get an idea in your head, start creating, and end up with something completely different to that first thought, well that's what has happened today.

First up, the piccy that Dawn has posted for her colour challenge...

... now for my take on it...

Ingredients: Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip card from SU!, Aqua and Yellow card from Bazzill, Papertrey Aqua Mist ribbon, Vintage Labels stamps from SU!, all punches and felt flower from SU!, October Afternoon paper, Ruby Rock-It pearls, Quickutz dots embossing folder.

... it's so nice to have a bit of creativity flowing again, however the girls are struggling somewhat with me doing something that doesn't involve them for a change. Clint is back at work today, so I am the numero uno once again, we have had a great holiday kicking around home just being together and having a good time. The girls have been in and out of the crafty room today, arguing over Beanie Kids, unicorns and anything else that can distract me and bring me out with them {life is back to normal} so, along with my creative break-causing mental block, it's no wonder this card has taken me ages!

I hope your Monday is shaping up to be a lovely one. Smiles:) bye for now.

{Happy New Year}

I am a little late with my first post for the new year, but here at last! Happy New Year to you all, I hope it brings you much happiness and lots of fun too. I have been having some lovely holiday time with my little family, and some good times with more family and friends. Not much creating going on however.

I have a couple of pics to share of the bag I made in the lead up to Christmas for my sister in law, I gave you a little peek before Christmas, and now here it is.

I used an old denim skirt for the base of this one, it had such nice seams in it that make a nice feature on the bag, as well as some gorgeous Amy Butler fabric from her "Love" range. I hope you love it Brooke;)

Well, I hope you are enjoying 2010 so far. Smiles:) and bye for now.
